A holiday flight turned into a nightmare for passengers when their Ryanair plane landed in Spain without any luggage.

The Bristol-originated flight FR4757 to Gran Canaria left travellers gobsmacked after the captain announced that none of their suitcases had made it onto the aircraft due to “time constraints”.

The pilot cited a security snafu at Bristol Airport as the reason for the mishap.

A group of 11 mates from Taunton, heading to Maspalomas for dual festivities – a birthday and a graduation – were among those caught up in the chaos.

Madeline Cooper, 22, recounted the flight’s unexpected twist upon arrival.

“We had absolutely no issues at all until we landed. Then the captain said they made the difficult decision to not bring any of our luggage,” she said,.

The specifics of the security issue remained undisclosed, with passengers simply informed that every bag was left behind, reports the Mirror.

“We were told today that it was 70 bags that didn’t fly. One pram made it across, that’s it,” Madeline continued.

Disbelief rippled through the affected passengers, some initially taking the announcement as a prank.

Essentials such as medication, contact lenses, makeup, and sunscreen were among the items stuck in Bristol.

Sophie Payne, part of the group, faced a dire situation without her crucial asthma inhaler.

“It was really stressful,” she admitted. “I take it twice a day and it gets worse at night.

“We’ve had to search for a pharmacy in an area we don’t know.”

Guests at the Cordial Green Golf Bungalows were told their bags might be back by Saturday evening.

Yet, come 6pm, they said there was no word from Ryanair. “There’s been zero communication,” Madeline remarked. “They keep telling us to use the app, but some older passengers don’t even have smartphones.”

Their holiday schedule has taken a hit. “We’ve had to pay €60 just to get to a shopping centre and back for clean underwear and essentials,” Madeline disclosed.

“We’re all students – we can’t afford to keep replacing everything.”

With the mercury rising and no suncream available, Sophie captured the sentiment: “There’s a lot of burnt bodies around here.”

Fellow holidaymakers aired their grievances online. One person posted: “Great start to the holiday as Ryanair decided to bring 0 of the suitcases from Bristol to Gran Canaria. No heart medication for me tomorrow.”

Another lamented: “Currently in Gran Canaria with zero belongings.”

Despite the setbacks, the group remains optimistic about seeing their luggage before their planned festivities, which include a birthday bash, a water park adventure, and a private boat trip.

“This is provided that we are able to get our luggage,” Sophie highlighted. “If we don’t our stuff then it’s completely ruined the holiday.”

Some members of the group are now faced with an hour-long round trip back to the airport to collect their suitcases.

Both Ryanair and Bristol Airport have been approached for a comment on the matter.
