Oleksandr Usyk cemented himself as the greatest heavyweight of his generation on Saturday night.
The Ukrainian superstar knocked out hard-hitting Brit Daniel Dubois in the fifth round of their bout at Wembley Stadium in London to capture his IBF world heavyweight title and become the first two-time undisputed heavyweight champion of all time.
Usyk dropped Dubois just over one minute into round five with a short right hand before closing the show shortly after with a thunderous left hook that has sent shockwaves throughout the boxing community, with many fans and analysts dubbing the Ukrainian icon as one of the greatest heavyweights ever.
It remains to be seen whether Usyk will continue his boxing career after that career-defining victory, however the unbeaten 38-year-old’s manager Egis Klimas has spoken out and revealed the one fighter that Usyk will not face before the end of his tenure in the sport.
In an interview with Boxing King Media, Klimas set the record straight regarding a potential showdown between Usyk and Jake Paul, as he claims the Ukrainian great runs the risk of being ‘jailed for murder’ should he ever share the boxing ring with the YouTuber-turned-boxer, but admits that there is a possibility of the duo squaring off in an MMA contest.
“Well Jake Paul, you know, when it comes to Jake Paul we’re not talking about the boxing because we would be probably put in the jail for murder … we all understand we can’t put Jake Paul and Oleksandr in the ring for boxing, there is no way, and Oleksandr will never do that, but of course because Jake Paul was a wrestler and what I heard he was a good wrestler when he was growing up, he knows how to wrestle, he knows how to fight a little bit. I think MMA would be the perfect thing to do.”
Usyk and Paul actually faced-off in the ring just moments after the newly-crowned undisputed heavyweight champion was declared the winner, sparking rumours of a potential clash between the pair taking place in the near future.
