Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz would be open to joining Leeds United this summer, TBR Football can reveal.

Leeds are currently searching for a new striker for the Premier League and Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz has been towards the top of the club’s list.

Following Leeds’ pre-season friendly against Manchester United, Daniel Farke confirmed that Patrick Bamford was free to leave the club.

Lukas Nmecha looked promising in that 0-0 draw with Ruben Amorim’s side, and Joel Piroe proved that he will still be a viable option in the Premier League.

But Leeds recognise that they need a new goalscorer, and Muniz has proved his ability to score in the top flight at Craven Cottage over the last 18 months or so.

Rodrigo Muniz is happy at Fulham but could be tempted by Leeds

That being said, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that a move to Elland Road would appeal to Muniz this summer.

On their part, Fulham maintain that they are not looking to sell and they are in talks over a new deal with the Brazilian striker.

Fulham are confident that they will come to an agreement with Muniz’s camp in the near future, a striker who has scored 26 goals in 97 games in west London.

Fulham don’t need to sell Muniz either, given that he has an option in his current deal which could take his contract until 2027.

The 24-year-old has come on leaps and bounds over the past two seasons, explaining why Leeds are so interested in the Brazilian’s signature.

In terms of Muniz’s stance, he is somewhat open towards his future — he would like to stay at Fulham but that depends on a new deal.

Muniz is also aware of Leeds’ interest and a move could tempt the former Flamengo man, who scored eight Premier League goals last term.

Leeds want to sign a striker before selling Mateo Joseph

In addition to Nmecha and Piroe, Leeds have a crowded striker department with Mateo Joseph and young Harry Gray hoping for chances too.

TBR Football previously revealed that Joseph is ready to leave Leeds this summer, and that still is the situation.

However, it’s not a case of Leeds needing to sell Joseph in order to buy a new striker — Farke’s side want to have a new number nine in before letting the Spaniard go.

Joseph’s sale would generate a significant amount of PSR headroom if he was sold for the right price.

But Leeds are reluctant to leave themselves short up top, even if they might have plans to pursue Muniz further.

Although it’s worth mentioning that Fulham might want up to £50m for Muniz this summer according to reports elsewhere, a very high fee for a striker who is still developing.
