Roy Jones Jr has finally revealed his greatest ever opponent.

Jones is regarded by many as being one of the best fighters to have ever laced up the gloves. He made his way into the paid ranks back in 1988 after he captured an Olympic silver medal at the 1988 Games in Seoul, South Korea.

He would go on to win world titles in four weight classes throughout the course of his professional career, ranging from middleweight through to heavyweight. The majority of his success came during the 1990s, where he racked up victories over Bernard Hopkins, James Toney and Mike McCallum.

Jones made the jump up to heavyweight March of 2003 as he defeated John Ruiz via unanimous decision to capture the WBA heavyweight title in what was arguably the most impressive victory of his tenure.

Speaking on Ring Champs with Ak & Barak, Jones had another man in mind as his best opponent though, as he made no mistake in naming countryman Toney as the best fighter he ever fought.

“James Toney, by far. James Toney is the best fighter I ever fought by far.”

Jones faced Toney way back in November of 1994, as he defeated ‘Lights Out’ via unanimous decision to capture the IBF super-middleweight title at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Toney made the move up to light-heavyweight shortly after he suffered the first defeat of his career to Jones, although he would be beaten again in February 1995 by Montell Griffin.

It wasn’t until April 2003 when he became a world champion once again as he dethroned IBF world cruiserweight champion Vassiliy Jirov, defeating the Kazakh via unanimous decision in Connecticut.
