In an interview with the APA, Prime Minister Brigitte Haas discussed Liechtenstein and the Eurovision Song Contest.

Speaking to the Austria Press Agency as part of a wider interview on Liechtenstein and its role in Europe, the Prime Minister has commented on the country and the Eurovision Song Contest. Liechtenstein is currently one of two fully internationally recognised states in Europe to have never competed in the contest, alongside Vatican City.

While not going into the matter of the Eurovision Song Contest in detail, the Prime Minister outlined that the country’s small size was one of the factors limiting its participation in the contest. She told the APA that:

We have medium-sized communities with 3,000 people, but we don’t have an event hall for 3,000.

Radio Liechtenstein, which once hoped to bring Liechtenstein to the Eurovision Song Contest, ceased operating on April 3.  Before the vote to privatise the broadcaster late in 2024, the station had been exploring European Broadcasting Union membership with the aim to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Since launching Eurovoix in April 2011, it has been a pleasure to find out more about this amazing continent through the Eurovision Family of Events. From starting out as a small site, it’s been brilliant to see the site grow and flourish and continue to bring our readers everything from the world of Eurovision.
