The feelings of Viktor Gyokeres’ agent towards Manchester United and Ruben Amorim have emerged in the Portuguese press.
United‘s revolution continued on Monday night with the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford being confirmed. The £65m signing joins Matheus Cunha, who cost £62.5m earlier this summer.
Both will supplement an attack force that was in desperate need of inspiration last season and the club’s transfer plans don’t stop there. All summer long has it been the intention to recruit a striker to spearhead this new-look department.
As that search goes on, the Manchester Evening News reported on Monday why the chosen man won’t be Gyokeres. United will not make an offer for the forward, despite the constant transfer noise.
The 27-year-old built a healthy and fruitful relationship with now-United boss Amorim, scoring 66 times in 68 appearances under his watch at Sporting CP, but Old Trafford chiefs have no intention to send an offer to Portugal as the forward is closing in on a move to Arsenal whilst the focus in the North West switches to offloading certain players.
Meanwhile, Portuguese publication Record have published information regarding the feelings of the striker’s agent towards the 20-time English champions.
They claim even with United’s stance towards Gyokeres, agent Hasan Cetinkaya feels ‘hurt’ at the current situation.
The Turkish businessman’s name may be familiar as he is also the representative of fellow Sweden international Victor Lindelof. The 31-year-old was not offered a new United contract this summer after eight years of service, therefore has left as a free agent.
Lindelof had made 18 appearances for Amorim since the new manager took over last November with it claimed he wished to stay.
Cetinkaya is therefore described as upset over the way in which his client was let go and further so over Amorim’s alleged actions given that he pushed for Gyokeres to join Amorim’s Sporting two summers ago.
Thus, ‘the door has been closed’ from Gyokeres’ side to join United, when it had already been firmly locked from the opposite side.
