Leeds United have had a busy summer of incoming signings so far.

Indeed, the Whites have bolstered their squad with numerous additions in this transfer window as the likes of Jaka Bijol, Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff have all arrived at Elland Road.

Of course, there may also be outgoings in West Yorkshire too as a number of players have become surplus to requirements after promotion.

Patrick Bamford is set to leave Leeds, while according to Ben Jacobs, another team is now looking at signing Illan Meslier.

Jacobs spoke about the goalkeeping situation across a number of clubs this summer.

The journalist says West Ham are looking at signing a new goalkeeper, with Mads Hermansen in their sights.

That would leave Leicester City needing a new number one, and Illan Meslier is on the Foxes’ radar.

Meslier has had interest from Arsenal in the past, but now he may have to settle for a Championship move after a poor season with Leeds.

“Then goalkeeper is going to be a big one too. My expectation is that West Ham are going to approach Leicester for Mads Hermansen, a player Leicester didn’t want to leave 12 months ago at a value of £35m,” Jacobs said.

“Now the feeling is that number will drop because 12 months have passed, but he is contracted until 2028 still.

“Leicester at the same time are advancing on Asmir Begovic who is available on a free transfer, they have discussed Illan Meslier at Leeds who may be available because he didn’t finish strongly last season, so Leeds could be looking for a number one goalkeeper as well.”

Illan Meslier’s Premier League record

The £5m man was poor at times for Leeds in the Championship last season, and things won’t get any easier in the Premier League.

Indeed, the quality is higher in the Premier League, and the pressure is also higher as Leeds battle against relegation rather than pushing to win the league.

Of course, Meslier has been in the Premier League before, and his top-flight record isn’t exactly amazing.

Meslier was actually dropped by Sam Allardyce at Leeds before their relegation back in 2023.

Leeds need a new number one in the top-flight, and they may be able to raise a bit of cash by selling Meslier to Leicester.
