Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis — appeared in coordinated outdoorsy attire for Prince George’s 12th birthday video, posted to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ official Instagram account on Tuesday.

The video features George, Charlotte and Louis in denim pieces, with Louis and George wearing jeans and Charlotte a denim skirt with buttons running down the front placket. The trio also coordinated their footwear, sporting dark boots for their outdoor excursion.

Prince George, who celebrated his 12th birthday on Tuesday, wore a checkered button-down shirt with muted shades of blue, white and gray. The sleeves of George’s shirt were rolled up. He also wore a chocolate brown fleece vest with the collar popped.

Princess Charlotte offset her denim skirt and gray tights with a cream shirt and an olive green cardigan with detailing at the neckline. Prince Louis matched his older sister with a button-down collared shirt and an olive green pullover sweater.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children’s attire created a unifying effect. The muted tones of brown, olive green and denim served to coordinate the children’s attire for the video and photo op. George also posed for an official portrait by Josh Shinner. In years prior, Kate Middleton captured photos of her children for their official birthday portraits.

This outdoorsy, casual aesthetic is one the Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their children, have styled for various official videos and portraits over the course of the last few years. The video and portrait also come from the same session for Father’s Day and Prince Louis’ birthday in April.

The Wales family’s off-duty attire emphasizes muted tones and an elevated sense of casual dressing. In September, the family replicated some of those style elements again in a video that announced the conclusion of Kate Middleton’s chemotherapy treatment. The video featured the Princess of Wales in a dress by Veronica Beard, and included Middleton’s family wearing button-down shirts, polo shorts, striped jumpers and more.

The outdoorsy style approach runs deeper than just the pieces the Wales family wears. Conservation and environmentalism is a large part of Prince William’s platform as the Prince of Wales. The British royal launched the Earthshot Prize initiative in 2020 as a means to support scientists and climate change activists creating technologies to combat global warming.
