Manchester United have confirmed a 32-man squad for the upcoming pre-season tour of the United States and there is no place for Alejandro Garnacho.

As previously reported by The Manchester Evening News, Garnacho is one of five players looking for new clubs this summer. Marcus Rashford, who is set to join Barcelona, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia all spent the second half of last season away from the club and are expected to depart.

Garnacho has spent the early part of pre-season training alone at Carrington. The forward fell out with Ruben Amorim at the end of last season and is expected to leave the club before the window shuts.

The likes of Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Aston Villa have all been linked with a move for Garnacho. A fee of £70m has previously been touted but a smaller figure would be considered to raise funds for further additions.

Recent reports had claimed that Chelsea were planning on biding their time to pressure United in lowering their asking price. It’s said the Blues consider £50m too much for the forward.

United have already bought Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this summer for more than £120m. There is an expectation that a new centre-forward will follow them once player sales are finalised.

On Tuesday, Amorim and his players were due to travel to Chicago for their tour of the United States. A 32-man squad was confirmed and as expected, Garnacho was excluded alongside Sancho, Antony and Malacia.

Garnacho is expected to depart this summer and the forward has used social media to showcase his desire to get his move. After Mbeumo’s arrival from Brentford was confirmed on Monday, the 21-year-old posted a reel on his Instagram page.

The post was his first in three weeks and included footage of him working in a gym. “Getting ready …” he captioned the reel with a voiceover played over the video.

“This is my secret,” it begins. “No secrets, don’t exist, secrets. “Dedication and hard work, you know? To be able to work a hundred per cent all the time. This is my secret.” Several teammates, past and present, have liked the post; they include Antony, Ayden Heaven, Ethan Wheatley, Fernandes, Patrick Dorgu, Rashford and Willy Kambwala.
