A summer of children’s activities starts on Wednesday (23 July 2025) at Skelton Grange Environment Centre in Stourton.
Wild Play days take place on Wednesday and Thursday 23 and 24 July, with another next month on Wednesday 27 August (please note we got our dates confused in the printed newspaper – apologies). Wild Play days are for children aged 8-12 years. Activities will vary from session to session depending on the season and the group – but past Wild Play days have included: Wide games, shelter building, fire lighting, campfire cooking, field games, hammock hanging, wild food walks, woodwork crafts, string making, bows and arrows, stalking and tracking, pyro-carving and charcoal making.
The Skelton Rangers Playscheme runs from Monday 28 to Thursday 31 July, 9am-5pm. Days are spent outdoors in the wild with similar activities to Wild Play days. One parent commented:
“My daughter says this was the best week of all the summer holidays! She made friends, bows and arrows, campfire food and some wonderful memories. As a parent I can’t thank you enough for your kind, caring staff who were great fun and engaged our kids in such a brilliant week of activities.”
Then on Tuesday 26 August it’s Family Bushcraft Day from 10am-4pm, this is for 5-11 year olds and their grown up.
Skelton Grange Environment Centre is on Skelton Grange Road (over the bridge) LS10 1RS. Find full information and tickets at: www.tcv.org.uk/skeltongrange/courses-events
