Birmingham City have put three of their outcasts in the shop window this evening by fielding them in the rearranged friendly with Solihull Moors.

Blues take on Moors in The Arthur Cup at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park after last week’s scheduled match at The ARMCO Arena was called off due to the condition of the pitch.

Due to the change of date, Chris Davies has opted against using first team players in the friendly, but Dion Sanderson, Alfons Sampsted and Emil Hansson will feature against Moors.

The club’s former captain Sanderson has been deemed surplus to requirements by Davies since returning from his loan spell at fellow Championship club Blackburn Rovers.

Sampsted and Hansson were both part of last season’s record-breaking League One title winning squad but their chances of first team football in the Championship were hit when Blues signed Bright Osayi-Samuel and Demarai Gray.

The Blues squad to face Moors also includes third choice goalkeeper Brad Mayo, academy graduates Alfie Chang and George Hall, plus hot prospect Zaid Betteka who caught the eye in the 3-1 win over Sevilla out in Portugal.

(4-2-3-1): Mayo; Sampsted, Sanderson, Fogarty, Mazwi; Chang, Pennington; Isichei, Hall, Hansson; Betteka

Subs: Terenowicz, Burrell, Ellis, Bateman, Willis, Boakye, Wodskou, Da Silva, Eubank, Sanders
