Sandwell Labour councillors Danny Millard and Claire Mayo were suspended following an incident in Surfeit Hill Road, Cradley Heath.
Three people were injured during the alleged assault with two taken to hospital – with injuries ‘not believed to be serious’ – while another woman sustained minor injuries following the alleged assault.
West Midlands Police said it had arrested a 33-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman on suspicion of assault and a 23-year-old and 26-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH).
West Midlands Labour said it was “extremely concerned” by the incident and suspended both councillors from the party “immediately”.
The party said it would not be commenting further because of the ongoing police investigation.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We were called after a report of an assault in the early hours of Sunday morning on Surfeit Hill Road, Cradley Heath.
“Two men were taken to hospital with injuries whilst a woman sustained minor injuries.
“A 23-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
“A 33-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of assault.
“Anyone who has any information about the incident is asked to call 101 quoting 20/315696/25.”
Police said all four have since been bailed.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to Surfeit Hill Road, Cradley Heath at 2.49am on Sunday and sent an ambulance to the scene.
“On arrival crews found two men who they treated for injuries not believed to be serious before conveying them to hospital.”
A spokesperson for West Midlands Labour said: “We are extremely concerned about this incident.
“Both Councillor Millard and Councillor Mayo were administratively suspended by the Labour Party immediately upon receipt of these allegations.
“Given this is subject to a police investigation we are not able to comment further at this time.”
Danny Millard is councillor for Blackheath and Claire Mayo is a Rowley councillor.
