Manchester United look set to miss out on the signing of teenager Tyrese Noubissie.

Noubissie, 16, has decided to leave Manchester City’s academy this summer. United were in talks to sign the youngster, but it seems French club Strasbourg have won the race for his signature.

L’Équipe claims Strasbourg will sign Noubissie after pitching a convincing development plan.

United are always on the lookout for the best young talent to add to their youth ranks. Brexit impacted which youngsters they can sign, meaning recruiting players from within Britain has become more common.

Noubissie, a central midfielder, was identified as an opportunity in the academy market, but the France Under-16 captain appears to have decided his next steps are away from Manchester.

On Monday, Noubissie confirmed his exit from the Etihad and said: “After an incredible two years filled with hard work and dedication, It’s time for me to turn a page and face a new challenge.

“Wearing the Manchester City badge was an honour and I appreciate everything that the club has done for me. It has allowed me to grow not just as a footballer but also as a person. I want to give a big thank you to all of my coaches and staff that have helped me have the best experience possible.

“Also a huge thank you to all my teammates for the past two years, managing to be the first age group to win the KDB cup is something i’m incredibly proud to have achieved with you.

“I leave this club with nothing but respect and gratitude. Manchester City will always be part of me. Thank you.”

Noubissie arrived at the Etihad in 2023 for a reported £1million fee.
