Melting Pot and Birmingham Rep have revealed the full cast for their upcoming co-production of Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts, which opens at Birmingham Rep on Thursday 28 August 2025 before embarking on a major UK tour.

Tom Chambers, known for Father Brown and as the winner of Strictly Come Dancing Series 6, will take on the role of the iconic Inspector Morse. He is joined by Tachia Newall, best known for his roles in Waterloo Road, Coronation Street and Doctor Who, who will play Detective Sergeant Lewis.

The production, directed by Anthony Banks and written by Alma Cullen, promises a gripping theatrical experience. Cullen, who wrote several episodes of the original Inspector Morse television series, brings a brand-new story to the stage in what marks the first major theatrical adaptation of the beloved detective.

The cast also features Teresa Banham as Ellen, James Gladdon as Freddy, and Spin Glancy as Justin. Josh Katembela, a recent RADA graduate, joins the ensemble in his touring debut. Robert Mountford takes on the dual roles of Lawrence Baxter and Paul Kincaid, while Olivia Onyehara plays multiple characters including Rebecca, Harriet and Ellen. Charlotte Randle appears as Verity, and Eliza Teale completes the ensemble.

Director Anthony Banks said:

“I’m very excited to start working with this fantastic cast who will bring these much-loved characters to life and make them their own. Alma Cullen’s original Morse story contains a play-within-a-play – an inspired concept for a murder mystery which reveals the similarities between playing a part when acting and covering-up a crime!”

Set against the backdrop of a mysterious on-stage death, Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts follows the legendary detective as he investigates a suspicious incident that soon reveals chilling connections to his own past. The story blends theatrical intrigue with classic Morse suspense, offering a fresh take on the detective’s legacy.

The production reunites Chambers and Banks following their previous collaboration on the UK tour of Dial M For Murder. With a script rooted in the world of Colin Dexter’s original novels and a cast of seasoned stage performers, this new adaptation is set to captivate fans of the genre.

Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts will tour extensively across the UK following its Birmingham premiere, visiting cities including London, York, Nottingham, Belfast, Brighton, Sheffield, Liverpool, Oxford, Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.
