Bobi Andonov, the most successful Macedonian representative at a Eurovision contest, is hoping to represent his country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.
Bobi Andonov, who finished fifth for North Macedonia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008, has expressed his desire to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest. The 30-year-old singer, who was born in Melbourne, Australia, to Macedonian parents, has told Slobden Pecat that he has spoken to MRT about competing in the Eurovision Song Contest. He told the newspaper that:
This is not just a dream, but something I have been planning and seriously thinking about for a long time. I spoke to MRT and expressed my desire, and I am also preparing to return to Macedonia at the beginning of next year. If the country decides to participate, I will be fully committed. I want to give my whole heart.
The singer added that any song he would take to Eurovision “should sound global, but at its core be personal and authentic.” He hopes that if North Macedonia were to return to the competition that ” If we return with heart and sincere intention, we can awaken national pride and inspire future generations of artists.”
North Macedonia withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom, with broadcaster MRT citing financial difficulties. Before this, the country had previously competed at every Eurovision since 2004.
The last time the country entered the contest was in 2022, Andrea represented the country in Turin, Italy with the song “Circles”. She was unable to qualify for that year’s Grand Final, though, finishing 11th in her semi-final with 76 points.

They attempted to participate two years earlier but were knocked out in the pre-qualifying round. North Macedonia’s best result in the contest is a 7th place finish in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, when Tamara Todevska represented the country with the song “Proud”. North Macedonia has not participated in Eurovision since 2022.
