Despite all of the background noise at Sheffield Wednesday, Owls fans have clawed onto one positive ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Sheffield Wednesday have undergone turmoil this summer, and with the 2025/26 Championship season looming, there appears to be no end in sight to the current woes with Dejphon Chansiri in charge.
The Owls’ first-team squad has been ripped to shreds, with several Championship clubs swooping in to sign Sheffield Wednesday stars on the cheap.
There could be more departures to come as well – Preston North End are keen on Max Lowe, whilst Yan Valery is also attracting interest. Even Barry Bannan’s future at Sheffield Wednesday is uncertain, with the midfielder still optimistically awaiting a contract to continue his stay at Hillsborough.
Several issues have plagued the Owls this summer, and whilst they look likely to struggle following the departure of several key players from the club, fans have found one minor positive to look forward to.

After Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri turned towards first-team squad sales in order to secure short-term funding for the football club, it now looks likely that Danny Rohl will be in charge of a new-look Owls side this season.
In light of all of the issues at the club, a pool of optimistic Sheffield Wednesday fans have managed to see the positives in playing the kids.
Taking to X, one Sheffield Wednesday supporter wrote: “I’m quite excited to see some of our youngsters playing.”
The Owls fan received responses from some fans that suggested he was showing blindsided optimism amid all of the chaos, but one indicated that ‘Fusire, Shipston and Cadamarteri (to name a few) are all very talented players and possibly the club’s future.’
The debate continued, as another supporter said: “I think that they are all talented lads, but lack experience of first team football and football at this level. I believe that they still deserve to play in front of players who already proved not good enough, who won’t improve, and ultimately won’t be here next season.”
Picking out the youngsters who Sheffield Wednesday fans are keen to see, Bailey Cadamarteri was mentioned as he returns to the club, having played for Lincoln City last season, whilst another supporter suggested that ‘Thornton is quality’ and deserves to play a role in the first-team this season.

If Danny Rohl does continue his spell as Sheffield Wednesday manager, the German may also reflect optimistically on the idea of handing game time to the youngsters.
He utilised Sean Fusire in the EFL Cup last season, where he shone amongst a group of senior players, and his role will no doubt become more important this season under the German.
Rohl has previously proven to be a success when it comes to giving youngsters a chance to shine and taking such an opportunity. His first season saw the emergence of Bailey Cadamarteri, who, like Fusire, will also likely be a key man in the upcoming campaign.
It will be an uphill challenge for Sheffield Wednesday this season, but hopefully they can weather the storm.
