Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua have been linked for an unlikely showdown in the boxing ring.
Paul has had 13 fights since turning professional. Most of them have come against retired MMA stars or ageing fighters. Arguably his best opponent to date was Tommy Fury, who beat him on points back in 2023.
Saine then he has also fought the likes of Mike Perry, Ryan Bourland, and in his last two bouts has beaten a 58-year-old Mike Tyson and 39-year-old Julio Cesar Chavez Jr at heavyweight and cruiserweight respectively.
A shock clash between Paul and Joshua has now been touted, and long-term Joshua rival and former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has shared his thoughts on the potential bout.
Speaking to iFL TV, Fury suggested he reckons that Paul would have enough to beat two-time world champion Joshua.
“Jake Paul chins ‘AJ’ if they fight. 100% [serious]. If they fight, I’m putting a million pounds on Jake Paul. 100%.”
Joshua has not fought since September last year when he was stopped in impressive fashion inside five rounds by Daniel Dubois, who retained his IBF title. Since then, he has surrendered it to Usyk, while Joshua is looking to get back in action later this year after recovering from minor elbow surgery.
As of yet, no real opponents are emerging, though Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn did confirm that talks had been held with YouTuber-turned-professional Paul’s team ahead of them targeting a fight with Fury in 2026.
Fury has been retired since January when he lost for a second time to Usyk, though he has recently been talking up a return and claimed that only big names such as a trilogy with the Ukrainian or huge all-British clashes with Dubois or Joshua would get him back in the ring.
