Hello!

Welcome back to Spin Cycle,

The men’s Tour de France is almost over for another year, but luckily the women’s Tour de France is about to get underway to provide a tapering off from the high of French bike racing in July.

But before then, there is still a bucket and a half full of nonsense from the past week to get through.

We now know the name of the course invader who got his name knocked out of him 😵

On stage 17 into Valence, a man hopped onto the course to stupidly try and ride the final kilometre before a policeman knocked him into next month.

New footage has emerged of the man in question, who goes by ‘sosogalerien17‘ on Instagram.

Turns out he has previous with disrupting sporting events, as he previously ran onto a football pitch during a European Championships qualifier between Portugal and Lithuania in order to take a selfie with Cristiano Ronaldo.

I know our hearts should be full of love during the Tour de France, but honestly hope this guy has a future filled with mundanity and staying indoors.

Pogačar asks ‘why am I still here?’

While this Tour (in our opinion) hasn’t quite lived up to the racing intrigue of the past few editions, the drama on the periphery has ratcheted up with each passing day.

The most recent incident came before the start of the Queen Stage on day 18, when a Visma-Lease a Bike race car braked too hard and a following Tadej Pogačar went straight into the back of it.

In an interview with ITV after this mini-crash and before the start of the stage, Pogačar appeared slightly incredulous as to what had just happened.
