Easyjet said it acted quickly to resolve the disturbance and ensure that the safety of passengers and crew wasn’t compromised
Police have launched a terror probe after a man was arrested over a disturbance on a flight arriving in Glasgow this morning.
Officers boarded the Easyjet aircraft from Luton Airport after it landed in Glasgow at 8.20am BST where they arrested the 41-year-old man.
Footage had been circulating online showing a man shouting from the aisle of the aircraft, “death to America, death to Trump,” and “Allahu Akbar” – an Arabic phrase meaning “God is most great”.
Two men then appeared to tackle him to the ground where they told him to stay on the floor.
Confirming the arrest, Police Scotland said in a statement: “At this time we believe the incident was contained and that nobody else was involved.
“We are aware of videos circulating online and these are being assessed by counter terrorism officers.”
The incident was also confirmed by Easyjet who said its staff acted quickly to resolve the disturbance and ensure that the safety of passengers and crew wasn’t compromised.
An easyJet spokesperson said: “Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival in Glasgow, where they boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger due to their behaviour onboard.
“easyJet’s crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers is not compromised at any time.
“The safety and well-being of our customers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority.”
