Patient satisfaction remains high across the county, with 81% describing their experience of GP practice as ‘good overall’, according to the survey. This is above the national average of 75%.
“We continue to work with practices to improve access and patient experience through digital tools, stronger community links and access to a wider team of healthcare professionals.
“Dorset ICB recognises that high quality primary care services available at local surgeries is important. All GP surgeries are independent contractors who provide services to meet the needs of their local population and registered patients.
“Dorset ICB supports surgeries in a number of ways including financial support to help improve access and outcomes; support the employment of a wide range of allied health professionals and non-clinical staff at local practices; and provide technical support to increase access to your GP with online consultations or via telephone and video calls.
“When surgeries do require any additional help to meet the needs of the local populations, the ICB is on hand with mechanisms to help – this includes support with buildings and facilities, staff recruitment and training and financial planning.
“The ICB works with a GP Alliance to better understand local variation in access to care and provides support to Practices to implement improvement plans.”
