US President Donald Trump has described the situation in the Gaza Strip as terrible and announced further humanitarian aid.

“We want to feed the children,” he said at a meeting in Scotland with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. There are many starving people in Gaza, which is why it is now particularly important “that people get something to eat”.

Just a few weeks ago, the USA had provided millions for the food supply in Gaza, said Trump. He hoped that the food would reach those in need.

Trump: “Israel bears a great responsibility”

When asked what responsibility Israel bears for ensuring that the aid supplies reach the people, Trump replied: “Israel bears a great responsibility.” Israel is being hindered by the fact that Hamas continues to hold Israeli hostages captive. Israel really wants the hostages who are still alive to survive.

Since March of this year, Israel had only allowed a few aid deliveries into the Gaza Strip. Recently, there has been a dramatic shortage of food and other essential goods. UN organizations spoke of an impending famine. Israel denied this and blamed the UN organizations and Hamas for the distribution problems. On Sunday, aid supplies were brought to the Gaza Strip on a large scale for the first time in months.

Israel is waging a war against the Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip. This was triggered by the attack on Israel by Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist organizations on 7 October 2023. In the massacre, the aggressors killed more than 1,200 people in Israel and abducted another 250 as hostages in the Gaza Strip.

According to Palestinian figures, more than 59,00 people have been killed so far during the ongoing Gaza war. The figures do not distinguish between civilians and fighters.
