The Tour de France has finished this weekend and this is the single most important race when it comes to handing out UCI points throughout the season. Whilst at the top nothing has changed, towards the teams that matter in these standings there have been some interesting developments.
You can check the previous update. UAE Team Emirates – XRG remain in an uncontested leading position. Team Picnic PostNL, due to Oscar Onley’s brilliant fourth place at the Tour, scored over 1200 points over this past week which was enough to overtake XDS Astana, whilst both overtook an Intermarché – Wanty that barely scored any points at the Tour. Now it is Intermarché who is in 18th place and within the biggest risk of relegation.Cofidis didn’t take the opportunity at the Tour, and had a very poor display which saw them gain back a few points on Intermarché. The decisive position 18 from 19 is now separated by less than 1500 points, but Uno-X Mobility is right on Cofidis’ tracks after having Tobias Johannessen finish sixth in the GC and Jonas Abrahamsen having won a stage. Arkéa – B&B Hotels also had a strong Tour with Kévin Vauquelin but the gap is too big to realistically close down.
