A new cafe has opened in the heart of Liverpool ONE, much to the delight of eager shoppers. Ori Caffe is no new concept; the brand already has successful venues across the country.

It can be found in Bluewater, Cambridge, Milton Keynes, and Newcastle, but this will be the company’s first visit to the city. The cafe, on the ground floor of John Lewis, is the department’s 10th, and as it stands, the UK’s biggest. The eatery serves “authentic fresh flavours, a variety of artisan sandwiches, fresh pastries and delicious sweet treats”.

The landmark store’s newest addition offers a Mediterranean-style menu for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon dining. Officially opened today, Thursday, July 31, shoppers can choose from the likes of a £5.70 bacon brioche, a £8.30 smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel, or a £10 large base salad.

The store also offers coffee, prosecco, and cocktails. An Americano will set you back £3.70, whereas a mocha costs £4.30. Those looking for an extra kick can do so with a £8 frozen Aperol sprits or gin fizz or a bottle of pinot grigio for £24.00.

Area and food development manager Neil Chatter told the ECHO: “We’re so excited to finally open in Liverpool. I think we will be greatly received. We’ve already had such a good response. When we removed the window coverings, everyone outside, on the green steps (in Liverpool ONE), all started applauding.

“We’ve had so many people knocking and banging on the window asking if we are open yet. We are ready to now build a great reputation within the city and fit in with the local people.”

Ori Caffe now occupies the space that the pots and pans section used to do so in the bottom floor of John Lewis. The team is made up of 20 staff members, allowing the cafe to open seven days a week from 10 am and to seat up to 115 customers at one time.

The city centre department store already offers four floors of fashion, beauty, homeware, and technology. It is also home to a Joe & The Juice location. The cafe comes ahead of the Liverpool store’s beauty section also getting a revamp.

A spokesperson previously said: “Ori Caffe puts its roots down in the origins of the deep Mediterranean, with recipes and flavours that build on a simple principle of quality.

“Offering fresh food, superb coffee and refreshing cocktails, Ori Caffe is the ideal place for a quick refresh or the place to be seen for a relaxing lunch with friends.

“The food menu has something to entice everyone, from freshly baked pastries, healthy salads and artisan sandwiches to an extensive range of cakes and sweet treats. Quality is a key principle with all the bread and cakes being sourced from only the best artisan bakeries.

“Ori Caffe is obsessively passionate about coffee and takes great care choosing the best ethically sourced beans. For those who are short on time, it’s also available to takeaway.

“The interior is stylish, with a quirky mix of architectural influences and soft colours inspired by the Mediterranean. This creates a comfortable and interesting place with a spark of elegance.”
