The pub said it’s been a ‘tough few years for hospitality’The Clifton pub in Regent Street
A popular gastropub in Bristol has closed suddenly. The Clifton confirmed the closure on social media on Thursday evening citing a ‘tough few years for hospitality’ as the reason for shutting its doors for good.
Announcing the closure on Instagram, The Clifton said: “It is with heavy hearts and the deepest regret that we announce the closure of The Clifton.
“It’s been a tough few years for hospitality; we’ve put our heart and soul into the pub over the last few years, but it’s not been an easy ride.
“If you have an upcoming booking we’ll be in touch, if you have a gift voucher, we’ll be honouring them at our other pubs in Wales; our sister pubs, Hare & Hounds and Heathcock will be staying open as normal and will be unaffected by this. “Thankyou to our wonderful team over the last two years, and to our lovely customers who have enjoyed food and drink with us. We’ll miss being in Bristol and part of this lovely village community. “Enquiries can be made to info@thecliftonbristol.com and a member of our admin’ team will be in touch as soon as possible.”
Last year, The Clifton was named as one of the best gastropubs in the country by Estrella.
The guide described it as being ‘rustic’, ‘unpretentious’ and offering ‘generous’ dishes and local ales.
