EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders unveiled a speedy twist in the storyline involving George Knight and Nicola Mitchell, with the pair’s recent get-together being discovered almost immediately.
The duo hooked up in Wednesday’s (30 July) episode as they had some private time in Nicola’s office, though they quickly had to go back to normality in tonight’s (31 July) instalment as Howie prepared for a job interview to be a bouncer at Nicola’s bar.
While he attempted to sell himself and his achievements to Nicola, George was hidden underneath the desk. She promptly declined to offer Howie the job, and was excited to spend some more private time with George.
Their plan was scuppered, however, with Nicola’s son Harry walking into the office as the pair were half-dressed. After George left, his own son Junior also discovered his romance with Nicola as he pieced things together.

He told Patrick about the matter, with Patrick quipping that he was unsure as to whether George was a “lucky” or “brave” man. As Anna asked some questions, George attempted to keep things quiet, though the game was up after Nicola strolled over and handed George his underwear.
George didn’t take too kindly to Nicola’s “stunt”, saying he would have preferred things to have remained more “discreet”. She subsequently offered him a job as head of security, though she urged the need for “professionalism” while they worked together.

While the future of George and Nicola’s relationship remains to be seen, the events of the episode could also put a strain on the bond between Howie and Kim Fox following his unsuccessful interview.
As he returned home, he overheard Kim talking to Denise about her late husband Vincent Hubbard. Kim said to Denise that she wouldn’t change Howie for “the world”, but with her partner only catching the first part of the conversation, could there be trouble for the pair?
EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
