Mattson Tomlin wants Tobey Maguire to be a dad in Spider-Man 4
Responding to a fan question on X (formerly Twitter) about his take on Spider-Man, Tomlin stated, “Honestly right now my main interest in this respect would be to write a Spider-Man 4 where Tobey’s Spider-Man is juggling being a husband and a father.” He added that after eight Spider-Man films, “Spider-Man as a father is where I gravitate towards.”

The idea of revisiting Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man universe continues to generate enthusiasm online. One comment encouraged Sony to act, saying, “If DC can have two live action Batmen at once, the same can be done with Spider-Man.” Meanwhile, other fans suggested casting changes, with one remarking, “I’m on board if they recast MJ—that’s really the only thing I didn’t like about the Tobey movies.”
@Sony If DC can have two live action Batmen at once, the same can be done with Spider-Man. You guys re-release the Raimi Trilogy in theaters year by year to smashing successes every single time. Make Spider-Man 4 with Sam Raimi, its a money machine.
Mr Tomlin, good luck!— Morals (@Morals_YT) July 31, 2025
Notably, Sony and Marvel Studios have not reacted to Tomlin’s proposal.
