With Super League approaching the business end of the season, we’ve looked at every player in danger of being banned.
The new Super League disciplinary system sees players earn penalty points instead of immediate bans, with those points then adding up to become bans.
Six points is the first threshold for a one-game ban with 12 and 18 the thresholds for two and three-game bans respectively.
The more points players receive then the higher the ban is and points stay on player’s records for 12 months, meaning some of these players could still be walking a disciplinary tightrope heading into the 2026 season.
A Grade A charge is the lowest disciplinary punishment that players can receive and that merits one penalty point. As such, we’ve taken every player who is one penalty point or less away from an immediate ban to look at which players and teams are most affected.
Which Super League players are close to being banned?
A total of 13 players are currently just one Grade A charge away from an immediate ban and for some of those players, the ban would be multiple games given how many penalty points they currently hold.
Castleford Tigers’ hooker Liam Horne is the player with the most penalty points at the moment who has 24.5, the majority of which came after he was handed a whopping six-game ban after he touched Kaide Ellis when the Wigan player could have been injured.
It was a very controversial charge but he was handed 36 penalty points and that total will be halved when he finishes serving the ban. However, his failed appeal adds five points to his record and he previously had 1.5 meaning Horne is on a huge 24.5 penalty points.
That puts him just one charge away from a four-match ban and he must toe that disciplinary line until the middle of next season.
Benjamin Garcia was another player handed a big ban after he punched Elliot Minchella and that means he’s just one point away from a three-match ban.
Joe Shorrocks is the only other player who is one Grade A charge away from a multiple game ban with the Salford man picking up the majority of his penalty points for his tackle on Brodie Croft in Round Two. Standing on 11 points, he’s one charge from a two-game ban.
Every other player on the list has 10.5 points or less with Tom Holroyd boasting the most and Edwin Ipape, Amir Bourouh Jordan Rapana boast the fewest with five.
Castleford Tigers also have both Innes Senior and Jeremiah Simbiken on the disciplinary tightrope whilst Hull KR’s Jared Waerea-Hargreaves is another close to a ban.
