A man has been arrested and hospitalised following a “disturbance” in Edinburgh.

Armed cops raced to Comiston Terrace after receiving reports of concern for a person at 7.50pm on Friday. Due to the “nature of the initial call” armed officers were deployed, according to Police Scotland.

A 53-year-old man was arrested and is awaiting a report to the Procurator Fiscal. He was later taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for assessment. He remains in care of medical staff.

Images from the scene show multiple cop vehicles parked along the road, blocking through-traffic.

Officers can be seen on the street standing beside their vehicles.

Another image also shows an armed police officer standing guard.

No one was harmed during the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told our sister title, Edinburgh Live: “Around 7.50pm on Friday, 1 August 2025, police attended an address in Comiston Terrace, Edinburgh, following a concern for person.

“A 53-year-old man was subsequently arrested by police and will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.

“The man has been taken to hospital for assessment and remains in the care of staff at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

“No one was injured during the incident.

“Due to the nature of the initial call, armed officers were deployed to the incident.”
