Manchester United have been handed a transfer verdict following two key pieces of summer business.

Ruben Amorim has acted with haste to sign two Premier League-proven forwards in Matheus Cunha and then Bryan Mbeumo.

Yet to play together for United, confidence is growing that the pair could do so in the US as Amorim’s side face off against Everton.

In their final Premier League Summer Series outing, United now need just one point to win the competition in its entirety after an impressive pre-season.

Wins over West Ham and Bournemouth have proved that things are moving in the right direction, and with just one Old Trafford friendly to come before the start of the season, optimism is in the air.

“Before we go on to [Matheus] Cunha, I’ve been really impressed with Mbeumo,” said former Burnley boss Sean Dyche when addressing United’s summer business recently.

“The reason is not just his goals. He scored a lot last season, but generally he’s chipped in with, you know, kind of 8, 9, 10 around that mark, season after season in the Premier League, which is not easy by that. It sounds easy. It’s not.

“And chipping in from a wider position where he can cut in, he can drive, he can work on transition, he reads it well defensively on transition as well.

Dyche also waxed lyrical over the signing of Matheus Cunha, with the Wolves man an aggressive character both on and off the pitch.

“Cunha, I like the fact… But, you know, people talk about his attitude and good, bad and indifferent,” he added. “But you need a bit of that edge. You know, if you’re a centre-forward, particularly, you need that edge.

“You need that. And if you’re going into Old Trafford, although it’s not the Old Trafford that it once was under Sir Alex and all them days and, you know, that feeling, you know, the Theatre of Dreams, it’s kind of lost that edge.

“But you’ve still got to go in there in front of all them people and deliver a performance.
