Former Super League hooker Micky Higham has sent a message of thanks after the rugby league family’s well wishes and support in response to his cancer diagnosis.

An ex-England and Great Britain international, Micky Higham has taken to social media to offer a message of thanks after more than £50,000 has been raised through an online fundraising campaign.

That fundraiser stands at £50,880 at the time of writing and is still active and available to donate to and can be found via this link here, as well as at the bottom of the article.

It was via the fundraiser that many rugby league fans learned of the fact that Higham had been diagnosed with stage four widespread metastasized cancer.

Ever since then, support has flowed in with Leigh Leopards head coach Adrian Lam paying tribute in his press conference and the fans of both Leigh and Warrington, two of Higham’s former teams, launched a round of applause in the ninth minute of Friday night’s game, recognising the hooker’s old shirt number.

It had also been arranged that bucket collections would be at the game whilst Leigh Leopards owner Derek Beaumont has launched a shirt, with the support of Micky Higham, which will help support the cause as well.
