In a statement to People magazine, a member of the Duke’s team declared: “I can confirm neither of those things are true. Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make those comments about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry.” In excerpts of the book published by the Daily Mail this weekend, the writer characterizes Harry’s relationship with Andrew as “problematic.”
He also claimed that despite the alleged incident occurring more than a decade ago, the two royals’ relationship has remained strained throughout the years.
Mr Lownie stated that the Duke of York accused Harry of going “bonkers” after meeting the Duchess, supposedly cautioning him that his marriage would “not last more than a month”.
The recent explosive allegations emerge during attempts to heal Harry’s continuing feud with his Royal family members.
Harry’s relationship with the Royal Family has remained chilly since his departure from the Firm in 2020. However, this year the Duke has expressed his desire for reconciliation, telling the BBC in May that he “would love a reconciliation.”
In the meantime, Meredith Maines, the Sussexes’ chief communications officer, and Liam Maguire, who manages the Sussexes’ PR team in the UK, were spotted last month on a balcony near Clarence House in London, engaged in conversation with Tobyn Andreae, the King’s communications secretary. This “secret peace summit” between the two parties was viewed as a “first step” towards mending their tense relationship.
