Marcus Rashford was sent a Manchester United message by a Barcelona fan after he opened his account for the Catalan club during their pre-season tour of Asia.

Rashford moved to the La Liga giants last month after United reached an agreement with Barca for his loan move to the club. As part of the deal, Hansi Flick’s side will pay the winger’s wages in full which alleviated some pressures on United’s finances.

Since arriving at Barcelona, Rashford has spent little time in the city as he was soon whisked off to Asia for the club’s pre-season tour. While over there, Barca have been racking up some comfortable victories albeit against teams of lesser opposition.

Rashford has yet to start though and has instead been used as a substitute as he continues his return from an injury suffered last season at Aston Villa. His absence from the starting XI has not stopped him from opening his account for the club on Monday though.

The Wythenshawe forward netted in the second half as he expertly tucked in an Eric Garcia cutback to add a fifth for Barcelona against South Korea’s K League 1 strugglers Daegu FC. As Rashford performed a muted celebration, a fan in the crowd wearing a Barca scarf, held aloft a United shirt with the player’s name and number on the back.

The No.10 shirt will be synonymous with Rashford at United moving forward but it was stripped from him this summer after he informed the Reds that he wanted to seek a new challenge. Instead, the shirt was given to new signing Matheus Cunha with Rashford taking on the No.14 at his new club.

Picking up the iconic No.10 shirt worn by the likes of Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho in Barcelona was off the cards for Rashford before he arrived as Lamine Yamal inherited the shirt from Ansu Fati. Barca have one further pre-season game back in Spain on Sunday against Como before returning to La Liga on August 16 as they travel to Mallorca.
