An interactive gameshow attraction where you run a “gauntlet of trials” including a retro supermarket sweep inspired game is being hailed as the ‘best thing to do in Manchester’.

Hidden in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, Challenge Point is an immersive attraction that fans online are calling the “best activity night” in the city with its “blast from the past” games.

In a viral video that has had over 300,000 views, TikToker @tiahnawild_ called Challenge Point the “best games night we’ve done”, with commenters such as @hollyjaexoxo responding saying that it “looks insane”.

The Manchester city centre attraction sees teams of players compete in seven different retro games including fan favourites like Supermarket Beep, where you have to race around shopping aisles, and Guess Whom, a larger-than-life take on the classic boardgame, and a retro laser-maze.

The high praise is echoed by other TikTok users such as @ssophiehill, whose video claimed that it is ‘the best activity in the city…we’ve never had such a funny night’ or @immyexplores, who promises that she ‘will definitely be back again’.

It has also racked up a string of five star reviews on Tripadvisor, where it is currently ranked as the third best thing to do in Manchester out of 143 in the fun games category.

It’s suitable as a games night for both adults and children aged over 6, although all under-16s must be accompanied by an adult, and you can play in teams of 2 -6 people.

Pauline M wrote of her visit last month: “It is a great fun place and something very different in the centre of Manchester”, adding: “Its a great way to do something different, but fun.”

Mohammed S wrote: “Nice friendly competition and the challenges have been created very well with the different difficulties, each requiring a different skillset.

“Would have regretted not visiting this place on my day trip to Manchester from Birmingham.”

Another 5 star recommendation came from Liam B, who calls the experience a “blast from the past”, stating that the “old gameshows made so much fun.”

While Andrea B said: “We honestly had the best experience and the games were so much fun we couldn’t stop laughing! Couldn’t recommend this place enough!”

Described on their website as a ‘crazy interactive gameshow’, the attraction sees teams of two to six players battle it out in a series of fun mini games, each competing to win as many points as possible and advance to the final round.

The different mini-games aim to test both your physical and mental capability – making it suitable for young and old to take part.

Teams are competing for a place on the leader’s board, with winner’s prizes ranging from free entry to Breakout Manchester (which is part of the same company) up to festival tickets and even cash.

Challenge Point is on Newton Street in Manchester and costs up to £32 per person, with prices varying on the day and group size.

Players must be 6+, and any under-16s need an accompanying adult (18+), who must stay onsite – although they don’t have to play. There’s no upper age limit, and if you opt out of a mini-game, you can still cheer from the room.
