Payments worth at least £200 will be dropping into bank accounts of millions of pensioners later this year.

The payments will initially be paid to all pensioners.
However, only those with incomes under £35,000 will actually benefit from the support.
Those over that threshold will see the payments clawed back by HMRC.
The winter payments will be arriving from November.
The money should arrive in bank accounts automatically later this year, and people don’t need to do anything to claim it.
Millions more will qualify this year following more changes to qualifying rules.

The Government was forced into a U-turn following anger over how the scheme was run last year.
While the winter allowance won’t be universal, it will include all pensioners generally classed as low-income and the new rules appear to have satisfied most critics.
That means millions who didn’t get the payments in 2024 can look forward to the bonus this year.
Winter Fuel Payments are worth £200 for those aged under 80 and £300 for those over 80.
