Western Australian owners and trainers will benefit from a fresh prizemoney boost during the 2025/26 racing season, with $10,000 bonuses to be added to selected races as part of the new $4 million Thoroughbred Sales Race Series.

Predominantly targeted at 2-year-old maidens in the first year, the selected races will carry a $10,000 bonus on top of standard prizemoney, offering a valuable incentive to owners, trainers and syndicators on top of current prize money.

The new national initiative rewards connections of eligible horses sold through the Thoroughbred Sales platform and— in the early stages of a horse’s career and in regional settings.

Thoroughbred Sales Managing Director Jake Watkins said the inclusion of WA in the national rollout was vital to ensuring genuine national reach and meaningful benefit for participants across the country.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing bonus prizemoney to WA,” Mr Watkins said.

“These eight first year bonuses are designed to add real value, particularly in those early races where young horses are just commencing their careers.

“By targeting maiden races, we’re putting bonuses where they’ll have the greatest impact — helping owners cover costs and encouraging more people to stay in the game.”

The Thoroughbred Sales Race Series will feature races across five states — including NSW, Victoria, Queensland, WA and South Australia.

The first of the Thoroughbred Sales Race Series bonuses will be offered in Western Australia on Saturday, January 1 at Ascot.
