Leeds United loanee Maximilian Wöber has picked up an injury during first-team training with his new club Werder Bremen.

After colliding with Patrice Covic, Wöber went down holding his right knee, required ‘extensive treatment’, and his session ended after the incident.

BILD Bremen go with a headline stating ‘The Knee Again’, and report panic around the 27-year-old, given he underwent two surgeries on his right knee whilst at Leeds United last season.

Whilst there’s no full medical report on the situation yet, that panic may be a little over the top as Bild don’t think, but don’t rule out, it will be a long term absence. That said, there’s the possibility of a spell on the sidelines and his situation should become clearer today or tomorrow.

Wöber suffered a medial ligament tear in his right knee in April 2018. A year after this incident, the Austrian international suffered a meniscus tear.

Due to his knee surgery last season, Wöber only made nine appearances for Leeds United. The situation made it difficult for the Yorkshire club to get the fee they wanted this summer, which is why he’s ended up at Werder Bremen on loan.

Another knee issue, even mild, is therefore a worry.
