RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has been pictured in Manchester as he prepares to complete his transfer to Manchester United this week.

The Slovenian became United’s top priority once Bryan Mbeumo had joined from Brentford. Unlike the Mbeumo negotiations, it appears that the Reds have managed to complete a deal with the Bundesliga side much quicker.

Despite competition from Newcastle for his signature, United have managed to persuade Sesko that their project is greater and it has been widely reported that United have agreed an initial £66m fee for the striker. Upon reaching an agreement with Leipzig, the club have worked quickly to get Sesko to the UK.

On Thursday afternoon, Sesko was pictured by the German media boarding a private jet in Leipzig ahead of his imminent arrival at United. Now, the forward has been spotted heading into the airport terminal building having arrived at Manchester Airport.

With this not being deadline day, there is less pressure on United and Sesko to complete the necessary paperwork and medical on Thursday evening. Instead, it will be expected that the centre-forward will complete these formalities at Carrington on Friday ahead of a potential announcement Saturday, prior to the pre-season fixture against Fiorentina.

United have often used home matches to unveil new signings to their supporters. Rasmus Hojlund was presented to supporters at Old Trafford while Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu received the same treatment in the January transfer window.

Should Sesko complete his move this week, he will be in line to make his debut for the club against Arsenal on August 17. The Gunners were credited with interest in the Slovenian during the summer transfer window but eventually abandoned their pursuit after welcoming Viktor Gyokeres to the Emirates Stadium.

Ironically, Gyokeres is a player that United’s head coach Ruben Amorim knows well having signed him from Coventry City and developed him into Sporting’s talisman.
