Sheffield United boss Ruben Selles has said Jack Robinson is back ‘training’ with his teammates.

Sheffield United have left him out of their last few pre-season friendly outings. SUFC have played against Chesterfield and OGC Nice.

Robinson, 31, has been with the Blades since joining them back in 2020. He is out of contract at the end of next season and is due to become a free agent in June 2026 as things stand.

In this latest update regarding his condition, Selles has said, as per a report by The Star: “It has been standard with ups and downs in pre-season, but the squad is fit. Jack is back training with us, he can be ready for the game. I think [he is in a position to potentially start]. He made the last couple of trainings and he is in the condition. So if I decide for him to play or be in the squad, he will be happy with that and give us everything.”

Sheffield United face Bristol City on the opening day of the new season this weekend. They beat the Robins in the semi-finals of the play-offs in the last campaign.

The Blades are gearing up for a new era under the guidance of Selles. He was picked as their replacement for Chris Wilder last month.

Sheffield United latest regarding Jack Robinson

Getting Robinson back will be a boost for Sheffield United. SUFC didn’t want to take any risks with him against Chesterfield or OGC Nice.

The Warrington-born man was snapped up by the Blades five years ago and he has since made 157 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with seven goals. They have a big decision to make regarding his long-term future.

Robinson rose up through the academy ranks at Liverpool. He was a regular for the Merseyside giants at various different youth levels.

The Reds loaned him out to Wolves and Blackpool to get some experience before he left Anfield permanently. QPR snapped him up in 2014 before he had a spell at Nottingham Forest.

What now for Sheffield United?

Sheffield United will make checks on Robinson over the next 24 hours. SUFC continue their preparations for next term.

Promotion will be the aim for Selles’ men. They lost in the play-off final under Wilder in May to Sunderland at Wembley and will be desperate to bounce back.

Sheffield United have the chance to bring in some more new faces over the coming weeks following the arrivals of Tyler Bindon and Louie Barry. They also have the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door as well if needed to free up space and funds.
