But while Catherine opted for metallic accessories to finish her monochrome fitted ensemble, Benedikte chose a Cartier Baignoire watch, and Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen’s elephant pendant for her structured look. No doubt, her most enviable accessory was her boyfriend of seven years, Count Nikolai, who cut a dapper figure in his grey suit and patterned tie.

While the 25-year-old son of Prince Joachim might have grown up in the gilded halls of the Danish royal household, it’s Benedikte who reigns supreme on the runway – literally. This time last year, she made her modelling debut for cult Copenhagen label Opera Sport.

Could we see Benedikte take to the catwalk again this year? The 25-year-old, who lives in Australia with Nikolai, has certainly been drawing eyes in Copenhagen. The model showcased her effortless command of street style off the runway with a tartan jacket and blue shirt, paired with smart sunglasses and a pair of cascading gold earrings.

Ever since they started dating in 2018 (having attended Copenhagen Business School together), Benedikte and Nikolai have become exceedingly well-versed in the jet-set lifestyle. Last month, they shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their idyllic getaway to the South of France.

There are some holiday destinations, however, that money simply can’t buy – but such are the perks of dating the nephew of King Frederik of Denmark. Last week, Benedikte Thoustrup joined Nikolai enjoyed a getaway to the royal family’s secret summer home at Château de Cayx, the 15th-century French pile that was bought by Queen Margrethe and her late husband (and the young Count’s namesake, perhaps), Prince Henrik, in 1974.
