Celtic’s transfer developments may force Manchester United to keep defender Tyrell Malacia, who wants to leave the club.

Malacia was one of five players who made it clear to manager Ruben Amorim that they wanted to depart Manchester United in this transfer window.

The left-back was signed under previous boss Erik ten Hag from Feyenoord in 2022, though a lengthy knee injury suffered in July 2023 left him on the side lines for over a year.

Amorim wants to sell players who have no future at the club to boost his transfer funds, but offloading Malacia has so far proven tricky.

Malacia move in doubt as Celtic line up new left-back

In a Football Insider exclusive it was revealed Scottish champions Celtic have expressed an interest in Malacia with a loan move on the table, if Man United could subsidise his wages.

However, no move has yet materialised, with the Scottish domestic season already underway, and Celtic have eyed up another left-back.

In another Football Insider exclusive, Celtic have joined Rangers in pursuit of Monaco left-back Kassoum Outtara, who has a £15million price tag.

With Amorim wanting to rebuild his Man United squad, not being able to get Malacia off the books is a financial blow.

Amorim still has plenty of work to do in the transfer market, although he is close to the signing of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sekso.

There is still Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho to also sell and so far Man United have only been able to move Marcus Rashford on loan to Barcelona.

Celtic face a challenge though signing a player wanting to sit on the bench most weeks with Tierney set to be number one choice at left-back.

Outtara is younger than Malacia, the Frenchman would join on a permanent transfer, and therefore he may be more willing to wait for his opportunity.

Outtara’s 24/25 stats in all competitions at Monaco.

Amorim though needs a suitor for Malacia and needs to establish whether a deal is still on with Celtic.

Celtic though may wait until their Champions League destiny is decided, with the Hoops having to navigate a play-off round before they enter the league stage.
