Popular British heavyweight Dave Allen has picked his winner for the long-anticipated clash between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

Fury is a former world heavyweight champion renowned for his agility, defensive prowess and ability to adapt mid-fight thanks to a high ring IQ. From dethroning Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 to his trilogy with Deontay Wilder, he built a legacy of overcoming the odds, but eventually came up short when he fought Oleksandr Usyk twice in 2024, losing both fights on points, and his world title with it. He retired shortly afterwards in January of this year.

Joshua is the former unified champion who captured his first world title by stopping Charles Martin and defended it and added more belts with wins over Wladimir Klitschko and Joseph Parker, though also lost back-to-back fights with the eventual two-time undisputed champion Usyk. ‘AJ’ has not fought since being stopped by Daniel Dubois last September and has been recovering from a minor elbow surgery in the meantime.

Speaking to MailSport Boxing, Allen, who is riding high after his recent win over Johnny Fisher, was asked who would come out on top between the two British heavyweight stars.

“Tyson Fury.”

Fury has recently shared videos of himself being back in the gym and sparring, and has talked up a trilogy with Usyk in April 2026, but the fight fans have long wanted to see is the all-British showdown with Joshua.

Allen has a huge fight of his own on the cards. Following his KO win over Fisher, he steps up against the fearsome Arslanbek Makhmudov on October 11.
