The Burkina Faso internationalist will miss the next Scottish Premiership match for Rangers.

The Ibrox side are set to face St Mirren on August 24 in their next league outing. However, Rangers have requested the match be postponed should they advance in the Champions League.

The SPFL granted power to clubs in the play-off round of European competitions to have one match, in matchday three, postponed without issue.

Rangers announced in a statement during the week: “Our fixture against St Mirren at the SMiSA Stadium has now been rescheduled for Sunday, 24 August, kicking off at 12 noon and will be shown live on Sky Sports.

“However, following a request from the club, should we progress to the UEFA Champions League play-off round, we will exercise the option to postpone the match and it will be played at a later date.”

Should Rangers qualify for the play-off round of the Champions League by beating Viktoria Plzen, they hold a 3-0 win from the first leg, then the suspension would move to the next league match.

For Rangers, that would be against Celtic on Sunday, August 31 at Ibrox.

Russell Martin‘s side do first have a match against Alloa Athletic in the Premier Sports Cup, but SPFL regulations state the suspension must be served in the competition in which it was delivered.

Guidance from the judicial panel protocol says of the application of the suspension: “Effective immediately to the League Competition where the sending off offence was reported.”
