Leeds United concluded their pre-season campaign with a 1-1 draw against AC Milan on Saturday.

The Whites took on the Italian giants in Dublin and gave a good account of themselves, in what was their final summer assignment before their return to the Premier League.

Anton Stach netted midway through the second half to cancel out Santiago Gimenez’s opener, securing a promising result from what was a largely encouraging afternoon for the Whites.

Daniel Farke will have learned a lot about his side in the game against Milan, and he will surely be keen to ensure that his squad get further reinforcements before the 1 September transfer deadline.

Anton Stach turned in an excellent performance for Leeds in the draw with Milan, and showed hugely positive signs about what is to come from him moving forward.

The midfielder put on an all-action display and showcased his ability to get forward and join attacks as well as break up opposition moves in his own half.

The German’s goal was the icing on the cake, but his contributions for the Whites were telling across the 90 minutes.

Stach’s quality performance was also noted by the Italian media, with Calcio Mercato branding his impact on the game as “poisonous” for the Rossoneri.

Leeds’ showing as a team has also come in for praise, with Sempre Milan suggesting that the Whites “dominated everything on the ball” amid a second half that “left a lot to be desired” from a Milan perspective.

Leeds have potentially just seen the door open for them to sign Nikola Krstovic once again, and a new striker must surely remain the priority between now and 18 August, when they open their Premier League campaign against Everton.

The likes of Krstovic and Roma’s Artem Dovbyk have consistently been linked with moves, and the Whites must make sure they get at least one new face at the top of the pitch over the course of the next week.

There is concern regarding Joel Piroe’s ability to be a regular goalscorer at Premier League level, and if the Dutchman doesn’t adapt well, then Farke has limited options to turn to at the moment.

The German will be happy with how his squad has been strengthened this summer, but there is still one glaring issue that simply must be addressed.
