Four people have been taken to hospital and a major incident declared following a multi-vehicle crash in north Wales.

Police were called to the scene on the A55 near Pentre Halkyn, Flintshire, at 15:21 BST on Saturday after a lorry travelling in the eastbound carriageway collided with two westbound vehicles.

One person with serious injuries was airlifted, and another taken by road, to hospital in Stoke-on-Trent. Two people were also taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital in Rhyl, Denbighshire, by ambulance.

The lorry driver – a 58-year-old man – was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation.
