Thousands of tributes were left near the Black Sabbath Bench and mural in Birmingham City Centre, following the death of the heavy metal pioneer.

West Midlands Police said officers were alerted to a theft on Broad Street, and following enquiries, identified a 45-year-old man who was arrested last Saturday (2 August).

Today (August 8), Parviz Jafari, of Beaconview Road, West Bromwich, has been charged with the theft of flowers from the tribute site.

He is set to appear before Magistrates on September 3.

The shrine, dedicated to Ozzy, was taken down earlier this week, with the tributes to de handed over to the Osbourne family.

On 30 July, the Osbourne family visited the memorial at the Black Sabbath Bench as Ozzy’s coffin was driven along Broad Street in his home city, where thousands lined the streets in tribute to the Black Sabbath frontman.
