Thick clouds of black smoke were seen billowing across an area of Liverpool this morning (Sunday, August 10).
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) rushed to a fire on Prescot Road, Old Swan, at around 10.50am.
Three fire engines arrived at the scene to tackle a waste fire measuring roughly 20 metres by 20 metres.
There were a number of sightings of large plumes of black smoke in the area.

A photograph shared with the ECHO, taken from Liverpool Shopping Park on Edge Lane, shows dense smoke clouds over a section of Old Swan, behind a Frankie and Benny’s restaurant.
The fire was not affecting buildings, MFRS said and crews used two hose reels to fight the fire and protect the surrounding area.
At 11.18am, the smoke plume had dissipated, and firefighters used three hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
At around 11.39am, the onsite manager arrived at the scene and crews continued to dampen down the affected area.
The incident has since been scaled back to two fire engines in attendance, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The remaining crews checked for hot spots and continued to dampen down, before packing up their equipment and leaving the scene at 12.50pm.
People contacted the ECHO to report that the smoke could be seen from Childwall and parts of the city centre.
