Mohamed Salah was one of three Liverpool players to miss their spot kicks as they slumped to a Community Shield defeat against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Premier League champions took the lead at Wembley through new signing Hugo Ekitike, before Jean-Philippe Mateta levelled things up.

Jeremie Frimpong then restored the Reds’ advantage, but Ismaila Sarr drew the Eagles level once again to send the tie to penalties.

Palace ran out 3-2 winners in the shoot-out, with Justin Devenny netting the winning penalty for Oliver Glasner’s side.

One player that wasn’t involved in the match was defender Kostas Tsimikas, and it appears that the full-back is attracting interest from elsewhere.

As per The Times’ Paul Joyce, the Greece international has attracted interest from several sides including Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest.

It is claimed that Forest enquired about the left-back’s availability earlier in the transfer window, although he has also attracted interest from other clubs in England and further afield in Europe.

The Reds will only consider selling the defender permanently and will not entertain loan offers at this stage, Joyce claims, but it remains to be seen whether or not Forest will follow up their initial enquiry with a formal offer.

Tsimikas, 29, joined Liverpool from Greek side Olympiakos in 2020 and has since largely acted as understudy to Andy Robertson at left-back.

Robertson’s place is now under threat following the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth earlier this summer, though, and that has pushed Tsimikas further down the pecking order at Anfield.

In total the left-back has featured 115 times for Liverpool across all competitions, but he started just nine of their 38 Premier League games as they won the title last term.

The Greek defender is under contract until the end of the 2026/27 season, but it appears increasingly likely that he may leave the club prior to the end of the current transfer window.
