The £9 million contract is being funded by the UK government and will begin in October. Morrison Construction’s tender was found to be the best value of the four tenders submitted and evaluated through a 60% quality / 40% cost weighting.
Work has already been completed to stabilise the fabric of the buildings which had been on Glasgow City Council’s Buildings at Risk register.

Additional repair works on roofs, lighting, guttering and piping has also enabled the design of the new refurbishment contract.
The stables are being renovated Councillor Ruairi Kelly, Convener for Built Heritage and Development at Glasgow City Council, said: “The works under this new contract will complete the refurbishment of these A listed historic buildings into 21st century uses, with these complementing the fantastic built heritage attractions – the Burrell Collection and Pollok House – found within Pollok Country Park.
“We have invested a huge amount – and attracted significant investment – in the council’s-built heritage in recent years in recognition of the great economic, social and environmental benefits it brings to Glasgow.”
