The Ibrox club were linked with interest in the Real Betis centre back last week with Ray Vallecano set to rival them in a bid to keep him in Spain.

It was then claimed that both clubs had agreed terms with Betis and the player and he was faced with a big decision on his future. And a further report stated the Senegalese defender was poised to join Vallecano.

However, that may have been premature as it is now being reported he is keen on a move to Rangers.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri says Mendy has chosen Russell Martin’s man as his next destination and they are now the only club the La Liga outfit are in talks with.
