The event took place on Friday, August 1, where more than 90 ‘Brighter Broadgreen Bears’, as well as several other cuddly toys and jigsaws, were donated to attendees.

The picnic, supported by Swindon Literacy Trust, was held to promote literacy development in children.

At the event, children and families enjoyed various treats and story-based activities alongside the council’s Live Well team, the Community Safety Partnership, the South Swindon Parish Council, and others who helped to organise the event.

Swindon Police also participated in the event.

Attendees were treated to various food items.

Tesco also contributed to the refreshments, providing themed ‘Teddy Bear cakes’ to guests.

The event aimed to bring the local community together, offering a fun-filled day for children and families.

The organisers expressed their gratitude to the attendees, saying: “A huge thank you to everyone who showed up and supported.”

The picnic was part of the ‘Brighter Broadgreen’ initiative, which aims to provide support and opportunities for the local community.

The initiative has been running several activities and programmes in the community, focusing on uplifting the area and its residents.

Their efforts are aimed at fostering a strong sense of community and belonging.
